Bugs in Shoes
Kids usually think of bugs as "yucky" or "gross." However, Beth Wilder's new book, Bugs in Shoes is an adorable and fun read for your little tykes.
There's nothing icky about these bugs. The big, bold illustrations of these humorous insects are sure to be a hit. There's boy bugs, girl bugs and baby bugs all wearing;
* boots
* shorts
* suits
* slickers
* knickers
* and so many more...
My personal favorite is bugs in shirts and bugs in ties - the illustrations bring a smile to my face every time. Your kids will love this book. It's so simple, yet so much fun! In addition, the sentences used in this book are perfect for beginner readers - it's written in a "snappy sing-song" rhythm to help them retain what they've heard and learned.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!
Check out Bugs in Shoes on Schiffer's web site.

The Cave Monster - A Review
When Lima Bear's cousin, L.Joe Bean, is captured by the cave monster the gang jumps into action. Whistle-Toe the rabbit brings his canteen, Lima Bear brings two swords (his own and L.Joe Bean's), Maskamal the raccoon brings his bow and arrow and a red flag to wave at the monster.
The plan is formed and soon the gang sets out to rescue their friend, but will it work? Find out in, The Cave Monster by Thomas Weck and Peter Weck.
Once again the Weck father/son team brings a humorous tale of friendship, courage and just plain fun. Your kids will love the kooky plan the critters come up with to capture the cave monster. The illustrations by Len DiSalvo are beautiful and so full of details you want to just spend time looking around the pages. In addition, there's extended learning and extra activities at the end of the story to fully engage your children.
This is a delightful, wonderful book. The Wecks and DiSalvo have done it again. They're the perfect combo - like PB&J!

How Back-Back Got His Name - A Review
It's a real "EEE-mergency"! Plumpton the opossum has lost his back! Well...it's still there, it's just invisible. Come join the adventure as the forest friends, Lima Bear (tiny green lima bean-shaped bear), Maskamal the raccoon and Whistle-Toe the rabbit, all try to help solve this strange mystery.
How Back-Back Got His Name by Thomas Weck and Peter Weck is a delightful and humorous book that will engage your children for hours. The team of crusaders go from one EEE-mergency to another as they search for Plumpton's disappearing back.
The illustrations by Len DiSalvo are a perfect accompaniment to this story. The pictures are rich in detail and really draws your attention around the page. I love the expressions on the animals faces - so fun! In addition at the back of the book there is an extended learning page with before, during and after learning prompts as well activites you can do with your children.
How Back-Back Got His Name is available in hardcover. For more information on this book and other Lima Bear stories check out Lima Bear Press. Book is also available at Barnes & Noble, and Amazon

Twist of Fate
Based on a true story of the events on September 27th, 2006. A tractor-trailer headed to a meatpacking plant over turns on Interstate 44 in rural Missouri. Forty-two horses and one hinney are trapped inside. Rescue workers work through the night and manage to free twenty-five horses and the hinney - a miracle in itself. But seven months later the real miracle occurs. A colt is born and is named "Twist of Fate," surviving the harrowing crash inside the brave mare.
Twist of Fate is a touching tale of strength, compassion and dedication. This book is written by Chris Stuckenschneider and will captivate your young readers. I had tears in my eyes as Chris writes this story from "Twister's" point of view. The paintings by Kevin Belford are so life-like you are immediately draw to them.
Come take the journey with all the survivors of the terrible crash on that fateful night - even though the circumstances that start off this story are sad, the outcome is one of hope and happiness.
Kudos to the wonderful, caring folks at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch. Check them out at; http://www.longmeadowrescueranch.org/
You can see actual photos of Mama and all the residents of the rehabilitation facilty in Missouri. In addition, a live webcam is available to view Twist of Fate as he grows and flourishes. Classroom tours are also available if you are in the area.
A portion of the proceeds of Twist of Fate will go to help the Missouri Humane Society, the organization that operates Longmeadow Rescue Ranch.
Twist of Fate is available on Amazon
