Moo Kitty Finds a Home ~ a Review

Moo Kitty had a great life with his elderly human.  He would lounge in his garden and on his human's lap - he was loved.

Suddenly, his human went to heaven and Moo Kitty was discarded by the garbage cans.  He was afraid, cold and hungry and about to give up when three kitty angels visited him saying...

"...You only need to believe and have faith that you are not alone..."

Moo Kitty begins his long journey to find a place to call home when he is picked up by a kind stranger. Moo Kitty once again finds himself in a scary situation - the local animal shelter.  Moo Kitty soon realizes that no one wants an older cat, only the kittens.  However, just when Moo Kitty is about to give up he remembers his guardian angels words and things begin to change.

Moo Kitty Finds a Home by Valerie Lee Veltre is a wonderful book about adopting older animals from your local shelter.  This story is based on an actual cat and brought a tear to my eye.  It was even more touching to me as I also adopted an older black and white cat from the Humane Society - this really hit home.

The story is a gentle reminder that we tend to discard what is considered old and useless when really they have just as much worth and love to offer.

The illustrations by Liz Leonard are bold and simple.  I like the way she kept the humans in the background faceless until it really counted.

In addition to a wonderful story, Moo Kitty Finds a Home also offers great tips to help in your decision for adoption of an older cat.  This book has it all!
