I thought this great little book would be a perfect fit to continue on with 'Back-to-School' week, after all kids are confronted on a daily basis with making the right or wrong choices. And when you're not around to guide them, the lines can become blurred.
E is for Ethics by Ian James Corlett is a perfect sit down book to help teach and direct kids through the lessons of life. Elliot and Lucy are your children's guide through 26 important and valuable situations. For example will Elliot be "honest" enough to give back the five dollars he finds on the ground after he hears the woman at the cash register deparately searching for it? Or will Lucy lesson about "graditute" lighten her bad mood?
Each ethic's lesson is short and written to appeal to children's sense of adventure. At the end of each tale, there's questions to ask your child to further prompt a conversation - "What would you do if...?" As well as quotes from famous people and simple illustrations to keep your child engaged throughout the chapter.
Dad and author Iam James Corlett encourages us to carve out a specific time every week to go through one of the lessons in "E is for Ethics" and if you stick to this schedule you will cover the entire book twice in a year.
