Misunderstood A Scar for Life - A Review

We may think we have other cultures "all figured out" but until we've lived it, we can only begin to imagine.

Hanane Habib grew up in a toxic environment (by most peoples standards) but for her it was a way of life. From a controlling aunt and grandfather to being forced to work and give up her dreams at a young age, Hanane's story will leave you angry and astounded.

Misunderstood A Scar for Life is a compelling and can't-put-down read.  Her independence and bravery in the face of an entire cultural expectance, will leave you singing her praises and rooting her on.
This book is one of the best I've read!  Awesome!

Monica Yother - Fellow Blogger

I met Monica through TwitterMoms and thought...lets find out more about her.
Here's what she had to say...

Tell us a bit about yourself -
I'm a graphic designer and illustrator working from home for my own business, MY Designs Graphic Design and Illustration. I've been doing this for 23 years, and had my own business full time for 3 years. I'm a mom, my kids are 8 and 10. My husband is my biggest supporter and encourager, well, aside from my mother! I've won lots of awards for my work and stay very busy.
Tell us about the magazine, "Just for Women."
I love this magazine! It's focus is to bring interesting and relevant information to real women. Articles are written by local sources. There is also a newsletter that goes out between printed issues that features one sponsor, one fun thing to do around town, something about food (either a recipe or a restaurant review), and link to a non-profit.

What's your role in the magazine?
I design the layout, illustrate the cover and any other articles that need it, write some articles and design some of the ads. I also help line up some of the articles.
When did this launch? 2005

Is it free? Yes

How can women participate, or can they?
We love and encourage participation! Anyone can receive the newsletter, just sign up on the home page of the magazine's website (http://www.jfwmagazine.net/), we have surveys, giveaways, and ask opinions. Also, there is a facebook page that people can post comments, questions or photos. We just started twittering too, and would love to get more followers so we can continue to build the community.
Tell us about "My Designs." What service(s) do you offer?
MY Designs specializes in 3 things. Illustration, branding/marketing design and digitally designed and printed custome wallpaper and art prints. The website is http://www.mydesigndepartment.net/, you can see some samples.
Anything else you'd like to add?
I have an inspirational blog that I update several times a week, it's called the Art of Inspired Living, how we can be inspired to express ourselves creatively. The link to that is http://www.wordsoflifeandart.wordpress.com/

Check out Monica's awesome web sites and the magazine - it's all Good!
