Silver & Grace - Elizabeth Fayle

There's a new magazine about to hit the internet "stands" called Silver & Grace.  This magazine is specifically designed with us 40 plus'ers in mind.  Here to tell us all about her new endevour is owner/operater, Elizabeth Fayle.  Check out what she has to say...

Tell us a bit about yourself:

Let’s see. Federal public servant by day (blech!), and by night, online magazine founder and editor, writer, jewelry designer, spiritual advisor, home renovator, gardener, singer, guitar & piano player. Mom to 3 twenty-somethings (I started young!) and step-mom to a twelve year old. Oh, and primary caregiver of 2 cats, 2 rats, 3 Koi fish, and 1 frog. And might I boldly add Wife Extraordinaire.

I am 47, looking forward to 48, and 49, and 50, and …well, you get the idea.

You've started a new online magazine, please tell us all about it

I have been blogging on Silver & Grace for over a year, and in that year have met many talented writers who are as passionate about promoting aging gracefully as I am. I’m all about building community, so it was a natural progression for me to bring together all these writers into a single community.

We officially launch on October 4th – I am so excited! Each Monday, I will post an editorial on the week’s articles. Tuesday through Friday will feature articles of interest to women over 40.

What made you decide to start Silver & Grace?

One word - perimenopause! I was blogging under the pen name of the Urban Panther, and I found I was spending more and more time exploring the changes going on in my body, mind and spirit.

I wanted to face all these changes with informed grace. This meant reading everything in sight, and conversing with my ‘sisters’. Next thing I knew, Silver & Grace was born, and a community of like-minded women evolved.

Do you take freelance writing? How does one go about submitting?

I most certainly do! Just drop me a line at and I will send you all the details.

What are you particularily interested in seeing?

First and foremost the articles must be targeted to the needs of women over 40. Beyond that the articles fall under the following categories: Relationships; Health & Wellness; Finance; Fashion & Style; Technology; Career & Business.

Are you a paying market?

As in, do I pay for submitted articles? Oh my, as an unpaid writer myself, I dearly wish I could. However, everyone’s time and talent is valuable, and I recognize that. Silver & Grace ‘pays’ in the form of cross-promotions to the writer’s blog or website. This is done in a variety of ways, and again, I am happy to send people all the details.

Where do you hope to see Silver & Grace in the future?

Silver & Grace is an absolute passion for me. Just ask Mr Very Right how many hours I spend in the evenings tapping away on my laptop. I am in this for the long haul, and my vision is for Silver & Grace to become one of .. heck .. THE go-to online magazine for women over 40.

Gone are the days of regular gatherings of women sharing their thoughts and experiences. While I would love to fly the sisterhood in from far and wide for weekly coffee klatches, the next best thing I can offer is a virtual kitchen table while women sip coffee from their own mugs.

Silver & Grace is that virtual kitchen table. And the cool thing about that is there is plenty of room to pull up as many chairs as needed.

Is the magazine free?

Yes, it is. None of us need yet another expense. Silver & Grace will sustain itself through advertising of quality resources and products.

How can we sign up for Silver & Grace?

No signing up required. Just show up at, coffee or tea mug in hand. There is, however, also a great free monthly newsletter that people can sign up for. It will feature an article on aging gracefully, hints and tips, healing properties of a featured gem or stone, thoughts on aging from our writers, previews of upcoming give-aways, promotional offers AND a special monthly discount only available to newsletter subscribers. Here are the details and sign up form:

Anything else you'd like to add?

First of all, thank you so much, Sandie. I am thrilled that you are one of our featured writers, and your articles always make me laugh and brighten my day.

Second, ladies, this is an awesome time of life. Yes, I am getting softer around the edges, and there are nights I stare at the ceiling, but those small changes are nothing compared to the emotional, spiritual and creative changes we go through after 40. I embrace moving into the crone stage of life, and I invite everyone to share their experiences and wisdom in the Silver & Grace community.

Thanks Eliza!  Silver & Grace is going to be an awesome magazine.  Be sure to stop by and check it out at;
