The Horse Boy - A Must See

How far would you go to help your child?

Come experience one family’s journey from Texas to Mongolia in a quest for help and healing of their autistic son, Rowan.

Rowan was diagnosed with Autism in April of 2004. Constant outbursts, tantrums, incontinence, isolation, obsessive compulsive behaviour, and lack of speech are all things 4 year old Rowan and his parents had to deal with.

However, there was hope, one day Rowan got away from his father and was found in the neighbour’s yard in front of an old mare, Betsy. It was if a miracle had occurred – Rowan was happy and relaxed, it was if there was a, “direct link to Betsy,” from Rowan.

With this in mind Rowans parents, Rupert Isaacson and Kristin Neff made the decision to do something radical – take a month and travel throughout Mongolia visiting Shaman to Shaman in hopes of finding a cure for Rowans illness.
Will this alternative to Western medicine prove effective?

The Horse Boy by Michael Orion Scott airs on the PBS Series Independent Lens, on Tuesday, May 11th at 10pm. Don’t miss this touching and thought provoking special.
