Amazing Mom-Preneur - Kimberly Hart

Amazing Mom-Preneur week continues with Kimberly Hart, author of; THE HAPPY WIFE & THE HAPPY MOTHER: 7 Simple Steps To A More Satisfying Life With Your Family From A Common Sense Approach

Here's what Kimberly has to say:

I am a thirty-eight year old wife and mother of four children between the ages of 3 to 14. I am fortunate enough to be married to my childhood sweetheart and we live in Austin, TX. I am a graduate of the University of Texas with a BA in English, Literature and History. My background is in grant writing; however, my primary career over the last fourteen years has been that of a stay at home mother. I have been writing since I was a child and always considered myself to be a writer. A career in writing was always on my radar; the only question was… WHEN???

This book had been in the works for over five years. It is a culmination of my life experiences as a wife and a mother… the good AND the bad. As I got older and began to realize what was and wasn’t working in my life I began to make changes. Friends and even strangers would remark to me that I seemed to juggle a happy marriage and four children with “the greatest of ease.” They all wanted to know the same thing. How did I do it? My answers often met with the same response of “Really? I hadn’t thought of that?” To me, it was just common sense. It was then that I thought I might actually have something beneficial to share with other women.

One of the steps in my book that I would like to share is that as women we need to LEARN TO SAY NO without feeling guilty about it. For whatever reason most women are natural born pleasers and we don’t want anyone to be upset with us, even to our own detriment. We set ourselves up for failure by agreeing to things that we don’t want and aren’t in our family’s best interest and ultimately hurt the people we care about the most. We are often trying to please the “wrong” people. I go into greater detail in the book and offer some solutions to help right that ship.

My disclaimer is that I am not a psychiatrist, therapist or counselor. My advice is simple common sense that anyone can use and these 7 steps can be tailored to suit each individual family. What works for one person may not work for another, but for a woman who is feeling overwhelmed by her daily life it is a place to start.

There are many “self-help” books on the market today. What makes mine different is that it’s based in reality rather than a promise of a “quick fix.” It’s not an autobiography and I don’t claim to have the perfect marriage or the perfect children. I share my successes as well as my failures. I have diversified life experiences that have shaped my perspective. I realize that wives and mothers are busy and don’t have time to read a lengthy book. I made sure that it was to the point, informative and relevant coupled with a sense of humor. My goal was to publish a book that would help frustrated wives and mothers shift the paradigm of their lives to one of optimism and gratitude without losing themselves in the process. I wanted to give women the tools to succeed and learn to love their roles and wives and mothers.

The response so far has been great. The book was featured at the AARP Convention in Las Vegas as well as the Miami Book Festival and the L A Times Festival of Books. We also debuted at the American Library Association’s Winter Conference in Boston. However, the most rewarding part of this process has been to have a desire to spread a message to other women like myself and to see that dream come to fruition. It has been deeply gratifying to have women send me emails saying that the book gave them ideas that they hadn’t thought of or improved the quality of their family life.

I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my book with your audience. What I have learned is that there is a wonderful network of women who are willing to help one another. I am relatively new to the blogging community and have enjoyed the blogs I have found and would like to extend an invitation to anyone who is interested in learning more about my work by visiting my website http://www.kimberlyhartboks.com/.
